DETROIT, MI 鈥 The Amadeus Electric String Quartet, returns to perform another amazing Christmas Concert Saturday, December 14 at the acclaimed Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts. Amadeus promises a diverse repertoire 鈥 carols included 鈥 that transcends language barriers, connecting people through the universal language of music.
The internationally acclaimed Romanian electric string quartet performed to a sold out crowd in downtown Mount Clemens at Emerald Theatre in 2023 for their fifth appearance in metro Detroit. They were joined by members of the Macomb Youth Chorus and a young Snare Drum player who may have stole the show.
This year鈥檚 performance will be a transformative symphonic journey set in Detroit鈥檚 theatre district setting the group to yet another level. The show will blend classical, crossover and pop music in an evening crafted to immerse audiences in sound and enchant the senses. They are celebrated for their unique blend of classical, movie themes, pop, and rock classics, and their mesmerizing instrumental arrangements have garnered over 200 million views on their official YouTube channel. The band toured worldwide, in more than 40 countries.
Amadeus Electric String Quartet, consists of four musicians 鈥 听Andreea Runceanu and Bianca Gavrilescu on violin, Patricia Cimpoia葯u on cello, and Laura L膬z膬rescu on piano. Founded in November 2000 by the composer Adrian Ordean, the group was one of the first in the world to use an all-electric instrument array achieving a perfect blend of classical and modern thus creating a new style which boosted their popularity eventually internationally.
The group began recording for its debut album, Continental, in 2001 with their first public appearance that winter in February, on Acas膬 TV. They release four more record albums with a major label and performed around the world including Continental (2002); Meridian (2003); Freedom (2004); The Island (2007); 24 Ore (2009).
In 2010, Amadeus ended collaboration with Adrian Ordean and any record label becoming independent beginning musical collaboration with the composer and producer Xenti Runceanu who still produces today. Then in 2020 an anniversary album, Joy, was released with original music. The album is a musical mirror of each one of the four members unifying the soles of hundreds of thousands of people from all religions and ethnic backgrounds. It has 14 songs and is part of the new age musical genre with influences of cinematic, gospel, new classical and traditional music from various cultures.
The group鈥檚 popularity in the United States is growing beyond the Detroit area and more shows are being planned including in Denver and Kansas City. But Detroiters can add another date to their calendar with an upcoming intimate concert planned for February 22, 2025 at Andiamo Celebrity Showroom in Warren.
